but do you have to give a reason like a medical condition or something ?

What you have to do is get a letter written out to say that you wanna cancell your holiday and the reason why. You have to sign it. Take it into your travel agents and lwt them know. They should give you back some money that you have already paid ( if you have). Get all that sorted then let the insuarnce know. Gd luck”

Your Questions About Travel Insurance

John asks…

Travel insurance?

Do you recommend travel insurance and what does it usually cover?

admin answers:

I bought for my last trip to Cuba a travel insurance from Escapade Travel Insurances (escapadeprotection.com). After 3 days, I got sick (gastro) and I’ve got a quick refund of my medical fees…so I recommanded it ! And the price of the insurance is very cheap !

But I think they only serve Canadian…

Chris asks…

Travel Insurance – Can I take out two different insurance policies for the same trip?

I will be travelling and WWOOFing in Europe and doing some sightseeing. I can not find travel insurance that covers volunteering and baggage cover. It looks like my best option is to have travel insurance that covers me whilst I volunteer on farms and another insurance policy for the time in between farms for baggage etc. My Question- if I buy from two different insurance companies, will that invalidate the other one?

admin answers:

Best to ask the companies to be sure of what you will be covered for.

Usually, you can buy lots of insurance – the companies will always take your money – but either you cannot claim for the same thing from two or three companies OR they will pay pro-rata, for example, each will pay only half or a third of the amount insured.

Does the group for whom you are volunteering not have such information or guidance for volunteers ? What about the predominantly student travel company STA travel ?

Sandy asks…

What are the best Travel Insurance Providers for cancer patients?

My mother is from and lives in Uruguay and wants to travel to a few places she’s always wanted to see. What are some great insurance providers for international travel?

admin answers:

Most insurers will cover your mother for accidents and illness totally unrelated to the cancer or side effects of the cancer. If she has had treatment for anything in the last six months or seen a doctor for any conplaint, they will not insure her.

Your Questions About Travel Insurance Medical

Michael asks…

travel insurance with medical condition?

admin answers:

A good travel insurance is not cheap, it could be quite expensive. But, it is very good to have a medical condition. If you travel to some countries where the medical care is very questionable you would need the medical insurance to arrange for an emergency flight back to your home land wherever that may be or to another destination of your choice. I travel a lot and have used medical insurance before, it is a good thing to have if it is affordable

Sharon asks…

will any travel insurance cover a neccesary medical procedure performed overseas?

Ruth asks…

Travel insurance for Russia?

I am indian national from Mumbai having residence permit of Dubai, UAE. I am going to visit russia next month for 2 weeks as tourist. which insurance companies can me give travel / medical insurance for russia ?

admin answers:

You don’t need a medical insurance in Russia. Most of the healthcare providers do not accept medical insurance. Only the certified international clinics in big cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg accept those.

If you need to go to the Emergency Room, service will be provided for Free; however, you might need to pay some costs for medicine or serious procedures.

Probably yes.

James asks…

Do I need a visa to travel to Cork in Ireland? What of medical and travel insurance too? Thank you in advance.

That does depend on what country you are travelling from? In the UK we would only require a passport to travel to Ireland and travel insurance and medically cover if desired.

David asks…

Adding a medical condition to travel insurance?

I’ve got a bad knee at the moment which is starting to play up, i’ve got travel insurance out for my holiday in June. If I go to the doctor to get my knee checked would I have to notify my insurance company so they can amend the insurance, if so would there be extra costs and would my knee be covered when on holiday?

admin answers:

Travel insurance rarely covers pre-existing conditions, so it is likely that any issues with your knee would be excluded from the policy. If you have already seen or intend to see a doctor about it then it would be classed as a pre-existing condition. Check the small print on the insurance and see what it says about pre-existing conditions – pay special attention to anything under the heading of “exclusions”.

Susan asks…

Do you think it is fair for airline companies to require obese passengers to purchase two seats to travel?

The excess consumption of food with a high content of saturated fats is linked to heart disease and obesity. Therefore, obesity and heart disease can be prevented with a healthy diet. Do you think it is fair for airline companies to require obese passengers to purchase two seats to travel? Do you think insurance companies should be allowed to charge higher premium rates to obese customers due to their higher risk of heart problems? Should employers be able to refuse to hire someone solely on the grounds of their weight?

admin answers:

Yes, I think all 3 are fair, it would be unfair to the healthy-eating person to have their seat taken over by an obese person in the seat next to them. Yes,insurance should be able to be raised.. People that have had a stroke have higher insurance (my 40 yr old mom, so I know this for a fact) and they do not cause this health issue, obese people do, so they should have to pay more too. And if the weight issue will prevent them from doing the job properly then yes, it’s fair to hire solely on the grounds of the person weight.

Steven asks…

Cancel/Change for any reason Travel Insurance?

Does anyone know of a Travel Insurance company that will allow a traveler to cancel or change his/her flight at the very last minute? If so, what’s the typical price and what is the name of the company. If anyone knows of a “frequent traveler” insurance programs I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

admin answers:

If you think you are going to cancel a flight at the last minute, it is a good idea to pay more to get a fully refundable airline ticket. You can call our travel company Jetsetz.com at (619) 243-8743 to assist you with this.

If you do not want to pay the higher fee for the airline ticket and want travel insurance to cover it if you cancel last minute, than you will need to show a reason why you had to cancel your flight to the insurance company. There are alot of reasons that you can use such as sickness, family emergency, household emergencies that the insurance company will accept, but make sure you have your reason figured out before you ask for your reimbursement. They will not accept that you just wanted to cancel because you changed your mind.

If you do want to purchase travel insurance, we offer the best deal out there with CSA Travel Insurance. We have a negotiated rate that is cheaper than anywhere and offers the most comprehensive covereage. You can book online at http://www.jetsetz.com/travel-insurance. Just put in your total trip cost & departure dates and the website will do the work. Take care, Steve

Michael asks…

What is the correct way to package a PC for international / air travel?

I am moving to America from South Africa soon and I need to take my PC with me, and having flown lots of times I know how careless the handling can be. So what I want is any advice on what to do and how to do it. I know I need anti static wrapping for my graphics card and HDD. I plan on keeping my motherboard, HDD and Graphics card with me as it is easy to keep in a small box. I am flying Delta Airlines and my 19″ screen, PC case, CD drive, mouse and the wires I want to put in a box that goes with the luggage. I know you can get something like insurance on the items from the Airline, but I couldn’t find anything that works in my case.Any help would be great thanks.

admin answers:

Your better off shipping it through a private company that has a policy where if it gets broken they MUST replace it. I don’t know of any that go from South Africa, but I know one that travels in America is UPS. Try looking up a company that is willing to do that. I used UPS International when I moved from France, HONESTLY I would just buy a new PC when you get to American because when I moved to the US from France it cost me 4 times more than to just buy one. Best of luck to you!

Lizzie asks…

Schengen Visa (Swiss) Insurance question.?

It states that each of the following items should be covered for at least 50,000.00$
- Emergency medical expenses
- Emergency hospital expenses
- repatriation for medical reasons
Although, it says this. I have an international insurance from my country(Mongolia) for 20,000.00$ in sum. Do I need to get another insurance just for the travel? or it is ok to give my international insurance copy for the visa?

admin answers:

For the visa application you will need a letter from your insurance company and a copy of your insurance card confirming international coverage of at least USD 50,000 for each of the following items:
• emergency medical expenses
• emergency hospital treatment
• repatriation for medical reasons
If you do not have insurance, or your insurance company cannot provide such a specific letter, you must purchase insurance for the entire duration of your trip and provide proof of purchase.
The French Embassy recommends to use the following companies who are familiar with the specific requirements and issue the required letter for Schengen visa applicants:
Travelex at 800-228 9792 or InsureMyTrip at 800-487 4722 http://www.travelexinsurance.com/company/contact.aspx .. Http://www.insuremytrip.com/about/news/ ..

Your Questions About Chartism

Carol asks…

what about this poem which is part of Chartism ?

Eight hours to work; eight hours to play
Eight hours to sleep; eight shillings a day

admin answers:

Catchy rhyme^

Chris asks…

the 5 points of chartism which became law?

which of the 5/6 points became law

admin answers:

A vote for every man 21 years and over, equal constituencies, no property qualification, the secret ballot and payment for MPs. The only one which didn’t become law was annual elections :)

Robert asks…

What was “Chartism” of old?

What was “Chartism“?

admin answers:

Chartism was a movement for political and social reform in the United Kingdom during the mid-19th century between 1838 and 1848. It takes its name from the People’s Charter of 1838, which stipulated the six main aims of the movement as:

Suffrage for all men age 21 and over
Equal-sized electoral districts
Voting by secret ballot
An end to the need for a property qualification for Parliament
Pay for Members of Parliament
Annual election of Parliament
Chartism was possibly the first mass working class labour movement in the world. Its leaders have often been described as either “physical-” or “moral-force” leaders, depending upon their attitudes to violent protest.

Your Questions About Travel Insurance Worth It

Michael asks…

Do i realy need travel health insurance?

am travelling for less than 90days to Europe, do i realy need a travel health insurance worth the minimum requirement of 30,000euro? It‘s too expensive for me
Wil i be refused the visa if i don’t get a travel health insurance?
Please i need advise
thanks

admin answers:

When travelling to the EC health insurance is NOT a legal requirement but if something goes wrong and you need medical care then you will have to pay for it and it won’t be cheap.

You choose whether or not to take the risk.

Whether or not you can get a visa does not affect the insurance question.

Nancy asks…

Which travel insurance is better?

I am traveling to New Zealand in december and have the choice of budget, standard or premium insurance and i don’t know if it‘s worth the money buying the premium, however the budget doesn’t include ‘missed departure’. Does that include if you are changing over in a different country and your first plane is delayed?

http://www.statravel.co.uk/blue-cover.htm

admin answers:

“In the event of the Insured unavoidably missing the pre-booked departure of
the outward journey from the U.K./Eire or the final return journey to the
U.K./Eire due to the failure or disruption of pre-booked connecting public
transport, to reimburse the Insured up to the Sum Insured in respect of the
cost of necessary, additional, receipted, travelling expenses incurred if the
Insured is unable to reasonably reorganise the travel plans and is as a result
stranded at such final departure point.”

Missed departure only includes the INITIAL departure from the UK – but it CAN be argued it covers the WHOLE of the return trip – it depends on whether you can argue that ‘final return journey’ can be in two or more stages.

(Make sure you enrol with Medicare if you need medical treatment when you get over there.)

The premium policy has a few extra features but you don’t need the extra medical expenses cover if that is your concern.

Robert asks…

Are premium bank accounts worth the money (UK Answers please)?

Hi,

Within the next 12-18 months I am going to be looking at getting my first mortgage.

My bank recently went on a selling mission to me regarding their paid current account offering numerous benefits for your fee. I was pretty disinterested in things like travel insurance and breakdown cover as I already have these things for cheaper than it would cost with the account.

What got me interested was the mention of preferential rates for mortgages and loans to their premium customers.

With a view of getting my first mortgage soon, will an account like this have much of an impact on my rate or ability to secure the mortgage I want?

Obviously the bank staff were pretty reluctant to detail this until I signed on the line!

Thanks in advance.

admin answers:

It always amazes me how many people fall for these ‘add on’ scams …

Under SOME circumstances it CAN be worth your while .. Eg. You have really expensive camera kit, travel to some dubious destinations every few weeks and can’t get travel insurance from elsewhere …

Don’t imagine you will get ‘preferential treatment’ = read te small print (you will still have to satisfy their ‘loan criteria’) … In fact, I would say it’s more likely they will rip you off with extra ‘PPI’ charges when they find out how gullible you are :-)

What to do if the Foreign Office has advised against all travel? I need insurance?

Do i just count out the idea of getting travel insurance then as pretty much every insurers policy states they will not pay if you travel somewhere the FCO advises not to.

You go to a broker (not a back street one) and they will find someone daft enough to insure you but the premium will be very high and the policy will have all sorts of exclusions

— It’s true, there are some credit cards that offers travel insurance, however you must purchase your flight tickets using their credit card to avail of this insurance. I advise you to contact your credit card provider to verify if they have this feature.

Lisa asks…

Do I need travel insurance to go to Africa for a week?

I’m going to Africa over break for a week. Someone told me I *need* travel insurance. I’ve never had it before when traveling, since I never get sick etc. Do I actually need to get it for South Africa? And about how much would it cost for a week?

admin answers:

Yes you definitely need it as quality private health care is very expensive here and you may have an accident or other medical emergency.

You may get free cover if you book your trip with a credit card (find out) otherwise you will need to contact a travel agent or an insurance company such as AIG for quotes (see www.aigtravel.com).

I don’t think the premium is very expensive, and it is worth your peace of mind.

Sharon asks…

I’m moving to Ireland next month from the states and i need travel insurance, what is the best bet?

I took a position as a volunteer in Ireland and I’ll be required to have proof of insurance upon entry in the country. I’ve been looking at Travel Insurance websites and the majority of them are for shorter periods of time. Does anyone have any suggestions?

admin answers:

I hope you enjoy Ireland, it’s a really great place and the people are so friendly.
If you are volunteering, are you a student? If so, maybe your student union could help out with cheap insurance.
If not, see if your mom or dad have any sort of discounts on insurances from their work.
If not try the link below, I’ve had insurance from these guys and they’re pretty good.
